“Yellowknife Catholic Schools is a family of learners: developing faith, celebrating culture, supporting diversity, teaching critical thinking and inspiring service to others" (Mission Statement)
As a Catholic faith-based school district, Yellowknife Catholic Schools has a vision, a mission and a strategic plan. Within that strategic plan, one of three strategic priorities has to do with our faith.
This section addresses the spiritual dimension of Yellowknife Catholic Schools (YCS).
Catholic Identity:
“The Catholic school pursues cultural goals and the natural development of youth to the same degree as any other school. What makes the Catholic school distinctive is its attempt to generate a community climate in the school that is permeated by the Gospel spirit of freedom and love.” Vatican II Gravissium Educationis

Religious Education Curriculum:
Our schools follow the NWT Department of Education Program of Studies, but implement these programs with an overall perspective of faith. Additionally, YCS uses the Religious Education curriculum approved by our Canadian Bishops.
In this section you will find the curriculum outlines for all Religious Education programs from K to grade 12.
Parent/Family Resources:
Parents are the first and primary faith educators of the their children. Raising children in the Catholic faith is both a blessing and a challenge. The links in this section provide resources for parents and families, including: prayers, websites for parenting and online games that support faith development in children. There are also Advent Family resources.
