Math
Science Resources
As part of its
mission to provide a rich learning environment in Mathematics
and Science, Yellowknife Catholic Schools created the position
of Mathematics and Science Coach in August 2003.
The coach provides support to teachers in the development
of curriculum and instruction for grades K-12 as well as
advice to the board about curriculum and other issues in
education.
Contributing to
this role the Mathematics and Science Coach has developed
a Mathematics and Science Resources web site. Although
the web site has been developed primarily for teachers it
also offers some material specifically for students and
for parents.
Teachers will
find support materials for elementary mathematics and science
as well as comprehensive notes on some senior science topics.
There is also material on good teaching, how parents
can help students with homework and how students can evaluate
material on the Internet.
Launched in January
2004, the site will continue to grow through material developed
by the Mathematics and Science Coach as well as through
teacher contributions. The site also provides links
to other useful sites on the Internet.
The Mathematics
and Science Resources web site is easy to navigate.
In the navigation bar just below the header is a button
marked Mathematics and Science Resources site guide.
It provides you with a 'map' of current contents of the
site and directions for finding material. The
navigation bar on the left of the screen will take you to
your chosen resource.

Pre-Trades
Programs

Career & Technical Centre
Yellowknife
Catholic Schools finished the completion of our new Career
& Technical Centre at the end of January, 2004.
We are very pleased to be able to offer the following pre-trades
programs to our Grade 9-12 students: Mechanics; Welding;
Electronics; Multi-Station Lab focusing on project-based
learning; Construction Systems and Cosmetology.
