Band Club

Band at St. Pat's features three ensembles that participate in many vibrant and exciting performances around the city of Yellowknife. There's no doubt that the talent of our music students enables us to be in high demand!

The Pride of the Irish Concert Band is a grade nine through twelve wind ensemble that specializes in pieces that require larger scale instrumentation in order to accurately produce music in a wide variety of styles which include classic rock, blues, broadway medleys, film scores, video game scores, folk, and classical. The students in this group take their performances very seriously but also have some serious fun!

The Killarney Jazz band is a 16 piece grade nine through twelve ensemble that performs pieces scored for smaller more "pop" orientated settings. As a result of the band's musical style, they have been in high demand throughout the city and have performed at the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre, Northern United Place, and Somba K'e Park for a variety of events. Instrumentation includes a rhythm section (drums, bass, piano, guitar), trombones, trumpets, and saxophones.

The Four Leaf Clover Jazz combo is a five to eight piece group that performs jazz standards and pop tunes. Since its inception, this group has been the busiest of the three. This is largely due to it's smaller size which enables it to work in more intimate environments. As a result, this group has performed at Le Frolic, the Explorer Hotel, Somba K'e Park, and has been a feature performer for the Peter Gsozki Concert, Folk on the Rocks, the NWT legislature, and Folk on the Rocks to name a few.
