Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD)
Since its inception in 1994, St. Patrick High Students Against Drinking and Driving (SADD) has evolved from a school-based operation to a well recognized and respected community and territorial organization. We have become the leading advocate in the fight against drinking and driving in the community of Yellowknife. Indeed, our students have set the standard for others to follow.
SADD is involved in both education and prevention. We visit schools in Yellowknife and other northern communities encouraging people to live responsibly. We hold regular demonstrations, run a successful drive home program and were instrumental in changing Territorial legislation regarding drinking and driving. We organize events for National Students Against Impaired Driving Day and National Addictions Awareness Week. We also partner with the RCMP, Yellowknife Fire Department, GNWT Departments of Health and Social Services and Transportation to further our message.
St. Pat's SADD students serve as role models to both young and old. We are a dynamic group of young people striving to make a difference in their school, community and Territory.
