**ADVANCED PLACEMENT**

Ecole St. Patrick High School is proud to announce that, beginning August 2010, we will be offering an Advanced Placement Program.  Our students will be able to take college-level courses and get credit for them at Universities and Colleges throughout Canada.  The students will also be eligible for different scholardships for when they do attend post-secondardy schools.  For more infomation this program, please click on the following link: ESPHS Advanced Placement Program

**B-BALL DOMINATION**

St. Pat's has dominated the 2010 Cager Basketball tournament.  For the first time in Cager history, one school has won all 4 banners.  In fact, the winning St. Pat's teams all went undefeated throughout the tournament.  Way to go Irish!

 

**GO CANADA!**

Ms. Rahim's Physics class sure are big Canada fans.  Check out their Team Canada gear! 

 

**TRANSITION SERVICES FAIR**

**FRENCH IMMERSION FORUM**

Are you interested in French Immersion for your child?  Yellowknife Catholic Schools is hosting a French Immersion Forum on March 3 at 7pm at our Board Office.  For more information, you can call the Board Office (766-7400) or click on the information sheet: French Immersion Information Sheet.  We'll see you there!

 

**GRADE 8 PARENT NIGHT**

We're hosting our annual Grade 8 Parent Night on Tuesday, February 23rd at 7pm.  Come on out and see all that the best high school in the Territories has to offer!!!

**FEBRUARY 4-6 ONLY!**

Contact the school to get your tickets for our drama department's amazing performance of "Sugar" based on the Marilyn Monroe classic "Some Like it Hot!". It'll blow your mind!

 

**EXAM SCHEDULE**

Well, it's that time of year again... exams time!  The last day of scheduled classes is on Friday, January 15 but some grade 12 exams actually start on Thursday, January 14th.  The final exam schedule can be accessed by clicking on this: FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE

**2nd TERM REGISTRATION**

**OPERATION CHRISTMAS - A HUGE SUCCESS**

Congratulations to Mrs. Huvenaars and all the students and staff of St. Pat's.  The Operation Christmas program was a HUGE success.  24 hampers of food and presents were delivered to the Salvation Army to help make 24 Yellowknife families' Christmas a little brighter.  To get the hampers to the Salvation Army, the whole school lines up and formed a chain to pass the hampers from our door to theirs.  At -30 celcius, it is even more impressive!  Check out the video and news articles about it on our News Page and make sure to check out all the pics in our Photo Gallery!  Merry Christmas to all!

 

**ADVENT LITURGY**

A huge thank you to Ms. Tutt and the Christian Leadership Team (CLT) who gave us a beautiful advent liturgy on December 15.  The skits, singing and reading gave us all something to think about.  Check out the photos in the Photo Gallery.

 

**POWER OF THE PENNY**

Mr. Simmons' classes showed the incredible power of the penny.  All 3 of his classes collected their loose change for 3 weeks.  In total, they collected almost $400 which will go to support the St. Vincent de Paul society.  The picture below is Mr. Simmons and his Grade 9 Science class.  Way to go guys and girls!

**WEEKEND WARRIORS**

It's not enough that we won both hockey Challenge Cups, but we rocked the weekend's High School Hockey Tournament.  The St. Pat's girls team beat Fort Smith 2-0 in the championship game.  The St. Pat's boys entered two teams.  St. Pat's Green finished first and St. Pat's White finished second.  Way to go Irish!!!

 

**DON'T FORGET**

The teachers take their turns as students as we work on our professional development.  There will be no school for students next Monday and Tuesday (November 30 and December 1) as we have two of these "PD" days.

 

**HOCKEY CHAMPIONS**

The Irish have done it again!  For the second straight year, the St. Pat's Girls and Boys teams have both won the Wade Hamer Challenge Cup by defeating the Sir John Franklin Falcons.  Check out the Hockey page in the Athletics section of this website for more details or look at the newspaper article in our Students in the News section.   Or, check out the awesome Photo Gallery.  WAY TO GO IRISH!!!

**LAMPLIGHTERS**

Congratulations to the 40 people who won Lamplighter Awards on Monday, November 23.  All of these people have demonstrated that they have been great friends to those around them and have let their light shine in our school.  They're just another reason why St. Pat's is so great!   Check out our Students in the News page to see the CBC News coverage of the event!

**WELCOME!!!**

A big welcome to our new Assistant Principal: Mr. Souhail Soujah.  He's a very experienced educator who has come from British Columbia and has made a huge impact in his first week here.   Welcome to the home of the Irish!

 

**A CHRISTMAS CAROL**

It's finally here!!!  "A Christmas Carol" is being performed by our awesome drama department this week!  Call the school for show times and for ticket information.  One things for sure - you won't be feeling all "bah humbug" after seeing the show!

 

**EBS CELEBRATION**

We had an EBS Celebration on Friday, November 13.  Check out some of the highlights in the EBS Section of the Programs menu.  There were prizes and honous handed out all over the place.  Check it out - it's awesome how great our students are!!!

 

**BOOK FAIR - NOV 17***

Our annual Book Fair will take place at the Yellowknife Book Cellar on Tuesday, November 17 from 4-8pm.  A portion of the sales will go to help build up our library.  Check it out!

 

**REMEMBRANCE DAY CEREMONY***

Congratulations to Ms. Wark and the War History class for the amazing Remembrance Day Ceremony.  The emotional ceremony which was filmed by CBC and a film crew from Holland which is chronicling our War History's class journey to Holland in the spring.

**GRADE 12 PARENT INFO NIGHT***

The Grade 12 Parent Information Night is on Thursday, November 5 at 7 PM.  This is a very important info night regarding graduation requirements.  For more information, contact Tony Campbell or Randy Rivers.

 

***VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS***

We had great success at the Fort Smith Volleyball tournament!   Our Junior Girls team won the banner and the Senior Girls team came in 2nd place.  Way to go ladies!  Check out the photo gallery at: Fort Smith Volleyball Tournament.

 

***MINISTER'S AWARDS GIVEN OUT***

Three students at our school received Minister's Awards for the highest marks during last June's grade 12 departmental exams.  Sarah Gullberg and Sarah Morland tied for the highest mark in Biology 30 and Tessa Moss had the highest mark in English 30-2.  Awesome job!!!

 

**NATIONAL AWARD NOMINATION**

Lorelea Wark, one of St. Pat's teachers, is a finalist for the 2009 Governor General's Award for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History!  This is the most prestigious awards that a Social Studies teacher can win and we know that she certainly deserves it.  Way to go Ms. Wark!!!
